They obviously intend to have fraudulent checks deposited in your account. Even in this day and age it still takes some time to discover a fraudulent check. It will "Clear" before that happens (clearing just means it passes preliminary inspection...an account exists at the bank it's drawn on...maybe has that much money in it...but the check is actually from the guy who hired you and not from the "customer")...you send them "their" money and you wind up on the hook for it when the bank figures out it's a fake a week or so later.
They could probably get a few thousand out of someone before that happens.
I suppose it could also be a simple money launderer...but the other fits better.
Looks like a variation of the Nigerian scam, they send you a "check" for a big amount and want you to deposit it and send them back most of the money. Then a couple of days later the check they sent you bounces and you're screwed.
Don't know what textiles have to do with it though, probably just to try and confuse what they're actually doing.
