The more I have to say, it seems, the less people are there to listen. I know that I've been on a fairly down-beat LJ post kick, but it's not like anyone reads this... so I guess I'll just go on ranting with impunity

Wow, that was really callous of your mom. I'm really sorry. I guess the old axiom is true: you don't get to choose your parents.

I don't think that's a really good thing for her to joke about. You never know what state of mind another person is in.

I'm sorry that it was your mom that said something like that to you. I don't know her, so I can't guess at if it was a moment of weakness or frustration for her or not. Either way, if she hasn't apologized I guess it's probably safe to say that she's not that great of a person. However, I do know that you have other people around you who are great and who care and treasure your company a lot more.

I hope these bad feelings pass for you soon. You don't deserve to be unhappy like this.
