I get your logic but I think shes trying to stop her daughter from having sex altogether, ie. birth control means she can have as much sex as she wants.

In fact, I have to wonder why she didn't take herself down to the Planned Parenthood clinic. I would assume they have some pretty decent confidentiality policies.
