Hi everyone! My name's Blu ("Blue"), and I'm a math student. I'm trying to apply for a summer job involving cryptography. Problem is, I don't know too much about it... but I have a feeling that most of the other applicants will not be too far ahead of me, since it's a student program. Applied Cryptography, as above. That tends to be the standard tome that everyone refers people to.

Also worth a look is "The Code Book" by Simon Singh (if you go to his website you may be able to get an electronic copy that has some extras).

Also look at Practical Cryptography, also by Bruce Schneier, which goes into more details than his first book. They complement each other, but "practical" is newer and I think it's easier to read.
