[Oh hey, Ema's not the only person who's been kidnapped, looks like! And this boy looks much, much younger than she is.

She approaches carefully, with an air of put-on confidence. She can do this.]

Are you lost, too?

[ The boy startles, still apparently thinking that talking to any stranger was a big no-no, but this girl was closer to his age than most of the adults here, so he wasn't really sure anymore. Mother had mostly talked about bad adults, no mention of other children. ]

J-ja... [ Gives a timid nod. ]

[Ema holds out a hand to him.] You don't have to be scared. I'm not a snake--I don't bite.

[ He blinks at first; he hadn't even thought of the chance of some people being snakes... Somehow that scares him.

In the end, he takes her hand with another nod. ]
