Alan Turing, World War II hero, was posthumously recognized for his accomplishments today, and was also given a public apology.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has released a statement on World War II code breaker Alan Turing, recognising the "appalling" way he was treated for being gay.

I agree somewhat. The crime can't be forgiven because there's no one around who is qualified to grant forgiveness.

To the people who have access to the speech today, I think it's worth something for a respected leader to publicly admit that what happened was "appalling" and "utterly unfair."

I feel that it's important to publicly own up and admit to past injustices in order to avoid the risk of repeating.
