Could it get any worse? Yeah, I'm sure it could.

So, I had my appointment this morning with the orthopedic doctor who will be doing my surgery tomorrow morning. I got to see a nifty 3-D version of my foot, which was cool.

Let's recap, shall we? I'm going to miss BLOOD and Taste of Chaos because of this. So...

My foot is broken in 3 places. One on the outside of my foot called a cupoid fracture. However, its compressed and there's no need to repair it. It's in a good position and will heal on its own.

The second bone in my right foot is the problem. He says on a scale of 1-10 of severity of fractures, mine is a 7. It's broken all the way through, and then down into the joint, and shifted off to the right. Could I go without surgery? Sure...if I want to be in pain, face the possibility it won't heal at all, or breaks even further.

Not an option.

So, instead, he's going in and putting a screw in the bone itself to put it back in position. Then, he's putting a LONGER screw, starting from the side of my foot the big toe is on, all the way through to the third bone, to hold it in place so the joint frature heals. I can't drive for at least 2 months. That's a definite. Here's the part that makes me want to cry.

In 4 months, I'll have to have surgery /again/ to remove the long screw. That puts it at the end of May.

May. . .

How much do you wanna bet that's when JRR 2 might happen? *flails unhappily* My foot will /probably/ be swelled up and tender for about 6 months. Apparently, it's not uncommon for this kind of thing to be uncomfortable for the better part of a year. Can you see where this shit is going?

I think I'll go cry now and make a sacrifice to make sure this goes well with no problems. I'm already missing 2 Jrock concerts for sure. If I have to miss JRR 2, I'm going to die an emo death.
