Regarding the shoes..you get what you pay for. I personally dont' mind paying more than usual for shoes b/c you wear them constantly (or supposed to anyway). For me, it used to be Ferragamos. Shelling out $125 for a pair of shoes was worth it, b/c it's one of the few labels that used to fit me (not sure if they still do).

As for coats-it depends on what you're looking for. If it's down, Macy's has good sales (and a good selection). If you want to go more upscale, i.e. cashmere, hit Saks 5th Avenue (that's where I got mine). But definitely wait until they go on sale. They ain't cheap, I'll tell you right now. But it'll last for years, especially if you buy a classic style. That way, you won't have to go back for another 10-15 years.

Oh, $125 for shoes is perfectly reasonable. $400?? I don't think so. But what's done is done.
