D&D 3.5E vs 4E

Well, WoTC is doing it again - they're putting out a new version of Dungeons & Dragons. They're perfectly entitled, of course, as it's their product, but it sure hoses me up.

If I weren't in the middle of running a huge campaign, I'd probably care a lot less. Okay, so I get a new PHB, update my character, and I'm good.

As things stand, I'm looking at updating 45-50 sourcebooks, a year and a half of campaign development, and a huge mental investment in actually learning the 3.5 rules. Frankly I care more about the time put into it than the cash, but both hurt. All so that some bonehead who wants to use a laptop during the game can use some l33t online toolz.

I'm doing my best to support the folks (well folk actually, it's a one-man show) at Kobold Quarterly, but he's about to buy a 4E license so I'm probably screwed.

Paizo Publishing has an awesome track record too, and they did marvelous things with Dragon and Dungeon magazine before they had their legs cut out from underneath them, but I imagine they as well will jump on the 4E bandwagon.

Freakin' awesome. I'll probably just end up getting pissed off and ditching the game for a decade again.
