Okay, I built a house in The Sims 3, and I'm really proud of it, so I'm going to picspam you all! :-D

The front of the house. I really love the windowed event room a lot. It has an indoor patio sort of feel.
The living room/dance club. I'm going to admit, I'm not a fan of all of the open space, but I couldn't think of anything to put there.
Probably my favorite room of the house: The kitchen. I'm mostly proud of the center island there, which was made using the moveobjects cheat, but all counters are functional, as proven by the plants that were placed there without such a cheat.

Guh, the stupid lines... Anyway, this is the event room, meant for weddings or anything else requiring lots of guests and food.
Another shot of the event room. I made this by using a split-level flooring tutorial on youtube. The thing I don't like is that diagonal line on the left by the stairs that happens when you put a door in.

This is the pool area! Note that there is a gate all the way in the back. The gate leads to a path to the event room.
There is a grill on the patio, and plenty of seating for outdoor parties.
There is also a fire pit and hot tub, along with two back-to-back TVs for watching either while eating or while lazing around in the hot tub.

Ignoring the green thing, this is the office. I like how this one came out a lot.
