Drove the Chevy to Levy

Has anyone ever had a levy placed on their bank account? A friend of mine (really it's not me) checked his checking account online and noticed a very large and disturbing debit to his account. After calling the bank he was told it was a levy. He has no idea who it is from and did not receive any debt collection notices for the amount debited? What ( Read more... )

He must go to the bank and get copies of the levy provided to the bank. They must provide copies showing why they are deducting funds from his account and those forms must show the court case ruling where the levy had been imposed.
There are usually limitations on the levy especially when it is going after the direct funds of the person being levied. It is odd that they have placed a hold on the account.
Something sounds fishy.

The bank will be able to tell him who placed the levy. If he did not know it was coming then probably the summons was served and the court action made under the pretense that he received service and did not show up to context the action in court.
