Sunday night's instalment - six games of VS! Wheee!
So the rest of the afternoon/evening was unexciting. I played with the kids while Gdaysheila did some work, Gdaygirl rediscovered the joys of the Gamecube, nothing particularly noteworthy.
About 6:30ish Stephane arrived, and he and I were able to get a couple of 2-player games of VS in before Spud arrived for our 3-player shenanigans.
Now, this week at our Hobby League we're playing Deck Roulette - every round the decks are thrown into a pile and then randomly reassigned to players. In other words, more often than not there's a good chance you'll have no idea what you're doing. Wacky fun!
Steph's built a Future Foes deck, mainly in the hope that Spud ends up with it at some point, since he hates Future Foes. Me, I've built a team-up deck that focusses on one specific plot twist, that I won't name here in case Spud actually reads this. Hee...
End result of the first game was a victory for my deck, though my drops were pretty blah, and I only got one of the preferred plot twist. Definitely some tuning needed, but nice to know it kinda sorta works already.
Second game we pulled out our Random Punks decks (ie, decks with no rares) in preparation for the Random Punks tourney on the 10th - EA Mobilize is a niiiice prize to end up with.
His Sinister Syndicate Rush deck performed admirably, but didn't quite get in enough damage before turn six, and then Callisto started building the +1/+1 tokens and was simply getting too big for his smaller-drop characters to handle.
Spud arrived in the closing stages of the game, so we headed downstairs to the basement for the three player games.
Don't recall the exact matchups, but I got to crack out :
Spider-Clones (which didn't get overly cloney and ended up losing out to Stephane)
Avengers Team-Attack (which pulled off an excellent board wipe of both opponents on turn four, but went down to Spud's deck on turn 6)
Pier Pressure (which laughed in the face of danger when Hulk and 7-Thing both had 20 attack an both opponents scooped)
Moon Knight.dec (which beat the pookie out of Spud's Heralds, and then went on to have both Moon Knight and Quasar pulling off multiple attacks on Stephane's burn deck for the win on 7)
Much fun, and I would have loved to have continued, but I actually need to go to work for a few hours tomorrow morning, and I need to be back home by 8:30ish so Gdaygirl can go to swimming lessons... as such, I need my beauty sleep to replenish my daily quota of boyish charm and roguish good looks.
And so, anon! More on the morrow, as the blog-the-long-weekend effort continues! (but no promises for a first-thing-in-the-morning entry, because of that work thing...)
