weeell... my understanding is that a lot of Canadians have had to wait for care to the point that they develop much more serious problems than the one they started with, that if it would have been taken care of sooner, they'd be okay.

I think a huge chunk of our problem in the US is we've given the insurance companies SO much power. I really like the Health Savings Account idea - it puts the power back in the hand of the consumer.

Another problem is frivolous lawsuits... and it's pretty easy to see how that can cause detrimental issues.

Our government - judicial and executive branches - needs to understand that ANY taxes, fines, or fees that they place on businesses, no matter what kind, are going to trickle down to the consumer.Example: a doctor that my mother-in-law works for refused to stop in the middle of a surgical operation to treat another patient who needed emergency surgery (heart attack); he instead referred him to another doctor who could treat him. The patient refused, and died. The patient's family sued. The doctor
