Oh god. When other Vancouverites hear I'm from Ottawa, they make sympathetic noises about how bad our winters are. The winters, as far as I'm concerned, are just fine; you can always put on more clothes. There's a limit to how far you can reverse that procedure, though.
What gets me are people who live in the Mercurian climates of places like Nevada who spend all summer never going outside except to sprint from their expensively air-conditioned homes and offices to their expensively air-conditioned cars and have the gall to say "Oh you crazy Canadians and your winters, how do you stand it?"
(This is why I maintain that Winnipeg has around 5 days of decent weather per year. "No, the summers are really nice!" someone argued. Alas, I do not consider 30+ degree humid weather with mosquitos nice.
