I think at times it’s amazing how far I might go to avoid remembering the past.

I mean why not? I’m the one you’ve seen a million times pontificate on the Zen perfection of living in the moment right? The past no longer exists, the future, not yet written.

That was me. It has been me; it’s what I strive for with all my heart.

it isn't really survivor's guilt, but every so often, it does cause me to think of all the risks that I took and somehow, still made it through uninfected - all those forks in the road to end up here and now

*also, you need to get some of your stuff taken in...*

There is something about the Zen "present" that can become a siren song to think we're done with parts of us - that they're the "past" us - when they're still resonant to who we are in the present.

This post was a beautiful reminder of that.

And topped off with a brilliantly sexy picture, so it worked on multiple levels for me.
