I just got a new phone. I am migrating Apple world into Android world, and I wound up getting the Samsung Galaxy S3. So far so good. Once I port my contacts to the new phone, I'm looking forward to ditching iTunes for good. :3 ( Read more... )

Yaay! ^_^ I have the S2, since Sprint had a buy one get one sale& we were both upgrading, but I absolutely love the S3 as well. Lemme know if u need app recommendations. :D

I still need to try Skyrim, but right now Vern& I are still playing GW2 pretty much on a daily basis, so it'll have to wait. lol

Thanks! One annoying thing is all the stock AT&T and Samsung apps that come with the phone but cannot be deleted. Many of the AT&T apps don't even work at all (my phone number can't be validated, or something). And honestly, do they think I'll use AT&T Navigator instead of Google Maps?

Are there any of the stock Samsung or AT&T apps that are worth using? And I guess I'd like any general app recommendations you might have, but I don't have anything specific in mind right now. Maybe a free photo editor that has stuff like crop/rotate/other basic effects. I'll let you know if I think of anything. :3

the samsung photo editor is actually pretty good& has all the options you mentioned ^_^
If you go into settings > apps > all you can at least disable the apps you don't want. Sprint allowed me to delete all of their stuff I didn't want, so I'm not sure about anything AT&T.

2nd annoying thing is that the S3 doesn't come with Jellybean, and the release date for Jellybean is "coming soon" (which could mean anything). Samsung and carriers are rolling it out to every country in the world before we get it here in the US. One positive thing I can say about Apple is that they are pretty good about SW updates for their devices. A new iOS always works on just about every device, even though some features may be locked out on older devices, it's still better than nothing.

On the plus side, the good things about this phone are numerous and I am discovering more all the time. :)

So, do you use a finger from your other hand, or do you use the thumb of the hand in which you are holding it?

The thumb of the hand that holds the phone.

But Apple says the Galaxy S3 screen is too big to do that with, while theirs is juust right. :-P

I'm confused by that because in all their previous iPhone advertisements, they only showed people using an index finger.

(Just so you know, I work from home full-time, so I have no need for mobile computing, but I try to at least follow what products are available at all times. And I wish the ads would at least depict the products working in real-time the way that actual people use them, not edited down for brevity or for show. If it takes 30 seconds to load something, then the advertisement should be legally required to show 30 seconds of waiting for it to load, not try to pretend it is there instantly in less than the time it takes to swipe across the screen. I know how fast (slow) wi-fi typically is compared to the connection speeds I am used to.)

My hands are larger than average. Some people might not be comfortable with operating the S3 one-handed. But that being said, Apple is a dirty, rotten liar ( ... )
