The Million Second Quiz

Sep 11, 2013 23:06

So after watching three episodes on consecutive nights (Lord, help me), I think I finally managed to infer the rules for "The Million Second Quiz." If the show isn't renewed for a second season, I think this may be why. It's not that it's very complicated; it's just that they never bother to explain what's going on. Even extensive searching on ( Read more... )

I'm still trying to figure out the game too, esp. as a friend was on it the 4th night (Lizzy Evans) and while the website credits her with something like $130k, she actually got zip. Somehow it feels a lot like another of these "game shows" that doesn't actually pay out and the only one supposed to be making money is the network. She's currently bubbling over about the EXPERIENCE (she has a hashtag gratitudeovergreed) but while that may have been rewarding to my ears it has the faint taste of the original meaning of sour grapes - "oh it wasn't about the money...so happy with being there & all that's happened since"

$130k is more than just respectable from what I've seen. If I recall correctly, that's better than the person in first place, Andrew, did in his original run. In fact, I think that's better than anyone on winner's row right now, except for Devin did. Which proves just how much luck and timing play a factor in this game. If she had been there at the beginning, she could very well be the front-runner right now.

My analysis of the current people on winners' row is that Devin is most terrifying for his sheer breadth of knowledge and stamina; Haley and Brandon aren't exactly pushovers, but have been very lucky; and Andrew is the only person who has demonstrated a cunning strategy and the player I'm expecting to win the whole thing.

self-correct:$162,244.

I hope Erhard can hang in. Be nice to have someone I know actually win something there besides warm fuzzies

Oh, her! Yeah, that was a pretty fantastic job she did. Her mistake was not sending herself back for the winner's defense, though I get her desire for a breather after 6 hours in the money chair.

I think Erhard and I both might head down tomorrow, though if we're both lucky, I fear going up against him. Ironically, if I am lucky enough to make it to primetime, I think I'd prefer going up against Andrew, as since he is the most dangerous player, I've studied his strategy and have him the most figured out.

Alright, I went down anyway, and took part for 500 seconds of it. Got a bad beat and lost 13-11.

No accessible record exists of the questions I got wrong, so here they are based on my memory:

1. What state has the area codes 330, 216, and 440? Ohio
2. What 1960's book warned against the use of pesticides? Silent Spring

I actually figured these two out between answering and when the answer was revealed.

3. What region of San Francisco has the DeadHouse? Haight-Ashbury
4. What's the strip of wood holding panes of glass together in a window? Muntin

I had no clue regarding these.
