Israeli Donuts for Hanukkah

Dec 11, 2009 12:21

While most European and N. American Jews make Latkes, in Israel they tend to make fried donuts (Sufganiyot) instead as part of their Hanukkah celebration. I make both.

Credit for both recipes comes from: http://www.jewishfood-list.com

I tried to find "instant" yeast at the grocery store...and maybe I was just being stupid, but I couldn't find it. What brand do you use, and what does it say on the package?

Look for Fleischmanns Rapid Rise yeast, that's what I tried it with and it worked fine.
