 A-Kon Report 2011

Last week, the minions and I headed down to Texas for A-Kon 2011, my first con and one of the best weekends of my entire life. We met up with friends, hung out, and had a lot of fun, and of course, the highlight of the weekend centered around Girl Genius.

Thanks for the report and all the pics, darling! It really looks like you had a great time, and it felt a bit like being there with you :D Thanks for sharing the news and the little hints from the chat with the Foglios, that will give us something more to ponder about... I can't wait for the next novel to be out!

Also, I do still plan to draw my own version of Tarvek in a frilly dress, so stay tuned ;)

Yay! More Tarvek in a frilly dress! I'd actually love to see him in a french maid outfit...*grins* But I'm just evil and have a thing for guys in dresses.

Well, I'd have chosen precisely the french maid outfit as his frilly dress for the pic, since it was the dress you quoted as an example back on the first time we talked about it, so... you'll get Tarvek in a french maid outfit :D

I also want to draw Agatha in a french maid outfit for a series of GG-themed pinups I have in mind, but I'm afraid that might come off as a weapon of mass destruction or something ;)

*squee* have I mentioned how awesome you are?

I'd like to see Agatha in nothing but a labcoat and a smile, personally....and GG-themed pinups would be awesome! Male and female? It'd be cute to see Theo in a kilt....for the thirty seconds he'd have it on before Sleipnir ripped it off of him.

Thank you! That was a good report on a wonderful weekend; it got more than a few chuckles here. Thanks for the pictures too (including the laser-eyed Jägerpoodle).

The costumes look good. I hope you will share some pictures of the Violetta outfit when you finish it. (Hanging off a pole keeping Agatha from being swept away is optional.)

I have the GRE to study for, plus work, so the Violetta costume is still in planning stages (though I do have the shirt). I'm getting my hair cut in a week or so, and my plan for that is to print off a page with Violetta on it (there's a nice one in volume ten) and say "This".

Not to put too fine a point on it I think you will make a better Violetta than an Agatha, if that's indeed possible.

If you do not post pictures I will hunt you down and stab you with an al-dente noodle. And your little dog too!

(Oh, and I agree. You did look rather nice sans wig, blouse, and death ray.)

Such compliments - you'll turn my poor head! *laughs* Glad you liked the pictures. And I will post pictures when I get the costume done - which will probably be around October. I know what I need to make, and I have the cloak and blouse (and will have the haircut soon), but I also have grad school applications, the GRE, and lab work.

If you come up to Stumptown comic fest or Emerald City Comicon let me know. I've been threatening to come as Tarvek in a sheet and boot. I've got the glasses (belonged to my great grandmother) but I'd have to let my hair grow and get a friend to dye it black and red. She's good, and my white hair takes color like washing a pillowcase with a red sock.

*looks up the cons, then sighs* Alas, I live in the Midwest. I'm not sure if I could get the money or time off school to go, else I would be there with bells on. I'm trying to see if I can finagle C2E2, as I could drive there, but anything requiring flying or more than a few days' driving is right out unless it's summer or spring break.

If you ever go as Tarvek, though, I want pictures!

SQUEEEE! I love this report! I also liked that the Jaegers were debauched because they're BORED! This is a great report and makes me wish I'd taken notes.

I'll be posting a few pics as soon as (all together now) I get interwebs up at my apartment, which should be some time this week, including Krosp by Phil, an octopus/cat by Jennie Breeden, and Snooch by J. Grant.

I didn't take notes, and I wish I'd've remembered to mention the information wars and Kaja's take on Lucrezia in Agatha's head as Agatha and Gil get intimate...that was hilarious.
