Title: Late Night Radio
Pairing: Suga/Jungkook
A/N: AU where Suga is a radio dj and Jungkook's a student who finds it hard to sleep.
Jungkook stares up at his ceiling, willing himself to fall asleep before the day comes. It’s been a few days (or was it weeks already?) since Jungkook has found himself sleeping at an appropriate timing. He’s pretty sure he’s suffering from some kind of insomnia, but he’s not exactly sure what triggered it.
Who was Jungkook kidding though? He was ultimately sure the reason why he hasn’t slept for a while was mainly because he was worried. He was lonely. He’s feeling left alone, chucked in a corner as Taehyung obliviously goes around giggling on Hoseok’s arm. Jungkook almost scowls right there and then on his empty mattress but his rising anger only gives way to an extreme worry.
Was he so easily replaced? So easily forgotten? Granted, Jungkook does have other friends aside from Taehyung but weren’t they best friends? Jungkook shakes his head slightly, he never did knew what went on in Taehyung’s head. But he’s never expected Taehyung to be the type to ditch his friends.
A slow sigh releases itself from Jungkook and now he’s pretty sure he’ll be wide awake until tomorrow anyway so he sits up on his empty bed, thinking of what he could do to waste the time away instead of having dumb and empty thoughts about a certain someone.
He checks his phone, the bright screen blinding him momentarily before his eyes slowly adjust to the sudden light. “2.15am” He groans slightly, it’s that time of night where it’s neither too late or early and suddenly Jungkook feels like calling Taehyung to talk like they used too.
He stops himself from typing Taehyung’s already memorised number and instead randomly goes on different sites before he spots a link to some live radio broadcast being held at the moment.
Jungkook’s never been the type to listen to radio (he prefers listening to underground hip hop music that never really gets played on air) so he’s close to skipping past the link when he notices that there are still live message reading for the lonely people on the radio broadcast. He feels himself relating to the the sucky “lonely people” bit because in all honesty, Jungkook’s yearning for human interaction.
Of course, he taps on the link, plugs in his earphones and starts listening. He’s surprised to hear the instrumental of a hip hop song he was currently into being played at a soft volume. He arches his eyebrow in reaction and slowly lies down on the bed again, his arm supporting his head as he calms his mind and starts softly singing the lyrics to the song.
The instrumental is interrupted by the sudden speech of a guy whose voice reminds Jungkook of the sea because it’s both fresh and deep and ultimately pleasant even with the slightly rough undertones it has. It’s pretty much music to Jungkook’s ears and he feels himself drifting into a space where he’s neither asleep or awake and the only thing he hears is the soothing sound of the man’s voice.
"And for all the people who can’t sleep tonight, I’ll read you some of the messages that were sent in earlier today," there is a pause for a slight chuckle, "it should be tonight, yes? So, the first message is from a certain Park Ji-…"
Jungkook finds himself lulling to sleep as the man continues talking and somehow, Jungkook’s sure that this isn’t going to be the only night he falls asleep to the man’s voice.
