Ok, not really.  I won a 19" Reeves Saxony.  An original, made by Rick Reeves himself, signed and dated 19" Saxony!  Oh dear god What have I gotten myself into?

The collection is currently at:

The Joy
The Hyacinthe
The little Norwegian
The Matchless
The Roberta
And the Reeves

I really think I have to be done for a while.  Really.

I bought the Roberta from Abby last week. :)

But I appreciate your comment! I knew other fiber people would understand. :)

I know. But then I had to do a ... okay. It wasn't really my fault, it just happened. But I did do a temporary hostage exchange involving my friend Beth's Lendrum Saxony and my Journey Wheel. And then Beth proposed another scheme to me which could end up with me having a 30" Schacht Reeves, and then having to replace my Matchless with another Matchless.

Point being... um, we're all okay. There are um... I have to count. I'm not sure how many wheels are in this room with me right now. Uh. 5. yeah. Yep, 5.

ooooh, the Lendrum Saxony! My friend Gryphon just got one of those at Sheep and Wool. That wheel spins like a dream!

How do you feel about the Journey Wheel? I played with one at sheep and wool, but I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it. It's so different from a freestanding wheel...

Actually, I was the first responder. I'm sure there were LOTS, as Rick Reeves made some very fine wheels.

Of course, we could also talk about the fact that I haven't touched any wheel in days, and have been spindle spinning my own prepped Merino to keep calm in this storm of angry lawyers. I swear, they're like schools of angry loud fish with lots of money and too much attitude, and every day I stay here I think to myself that I need to find a new vocation.

Hee! I will have to point out to wjb3 that at least I'm just collecting yarn for now, not collecting spinning wheels... (yet...)

I think he'll be scared!

You need ROOM to collect most wheels. The Joy is out on loan, and folds up when she's here. The Roberta is electric and fits in a little bag in the corner, but the others take up floor space. Even the Schacht takes up some space, and is often looked at woefully by the dog when I put the wheel in the dog's preferred spot.

I would like to have at least one of each maker eventually, but I think that's a bit of a pipe dream. I'll settle for one of each major manufacturer: The Schachts, Majacrafts, Louets (one Irish, one Scotch), Lendrum, and Ashford. The hand made, hand finished custom wheels are icing.

And as for you, m'dear, you might want to start with a nice portable drop spindle. Think of it as a wheel turned verticle. They don't take up much space, they come in lots of pretty colors, and they spin yarn just as well if not better than a wheel.
