Drabble: 'Incident at Recife'

On the way to Singapore...

~ Incident at Recife ~

“But he seemed so polite.” The girl’s hand shook as she cherished her sore head.

“Bloody little fool!” Hector fumed. “Good manners do not a gentleman make, Miss Swann.”

“As you should know,” Turner retorted with typical belligerence.

“As I should know,” he agreed, then snapped, “And you should know only an idiot would take her for a lad with that face!”

Elizabeth looked up. “On the Edinburgh-“

“Exactly me point.” Hector scowled, and shook a finger at her. “That bit of sword ain’t enough. Pirate, girl. Armed to the teeth, and dangerous, and alive! And etiquette be damned!”
