My daddy's mama used to say lots of colorful things about folks she cared not a whit for, and she would've named Caroline a wall-eyed bitch! Wrong of her old fingers to be getting into young estranged lovers' business...Oh yea--caroline is just a yucky piece of Beckett...worse thing I can say of her. She certainly has a way with words in describing the utterly luscious young Tom--did you know how much I loved him as a doting dutch auntie when he was just a bitty troublemaker

Aunt Caroline might mean well by Anne but she is still annoying (and a lot of fun to write). So so happy you are enjoying! Thank you very much for the wonderful comments.
"Considering" them to be sure... more like reading their pedigree, which I realize was a favorite pastime back then, but small minds and jealousy is rarely a pleasing combination. Green is just not a good color on Caroline!
And yet there is no greater response to said shortcomings than a grand "Frankly my dear...." at which I would think the Sparrows would be quite adept.
Very true, and I think that's a big part of the problem with her, not only where Anne is concerned, but James, too. I have to say, she's a lot of fun to write. *g*
The fact that she is so much fun to write has to be very similar to why actors/actresses love playing the villian/bad person... or perhaps I should just say "the severely flawed." They are so much broader! You can take them over the edge with much less self-consciousness or restrictions.
That could also be why POTC is so fascinating to explore: the writers provided each character with their own set of pluses, but also a quantity of flaws (well, very well, some more so than others ) So much to do, so little time!!!
BTW: Perhaps Caroline should look into this tendency to live vicariously through the looks exchanged between a man and a woman.

Very true, though that's true of any good character. They would not seem human, otherwise.
Caroline has been a widow for too long. Perhaps a story in which the Sparrows set her up with a nice piratey colleague? *g*
