Fic: Harry & the Pirate VI: 'A Wicked Wager' (Jack/Harry, OC's - PG-13)

Jan 25, 2011 07:22

Set two years post-Blood and Treasure, this is for felaine who suggested that "Caroline needs some romance too...[and] I'd love to know how she'd react to the Caribbean."

This is also for the "twist" drabble challenge prompt at blackpearlsails, though at over 3,000 words it's somewhat beyond a drabble.

Many thanks to my dear hereswith for beta reading, editing, and helpful ( Read more... )

You know how much and thoroughly I adore the way they seal the deal here, with Caroline worrying he will laugh at her and George stating that he hopes they will sometimes laugh together, but it bears saying again :-) I love that they go into it with eyes open, too, that it isn't love (yet), but two adults with experiences both good and bad behind them who find comfort and pleasure in each other's company. Also, you made me feel sympathy for Caroline, which I wouldn't have thought. Before. *g*

And thank you so much for the kind rec. ♥

Had to rec that, and you could write more if you were so inclined. ;) How about some Cupid/Psyche, too?

you made me feel sympathy for Caroline, which I wouldn't have thought. Before.

I was wondering if I could pull that off, actually. I'm so happy I was able to do it, with your expert help. Thank you so much for commenting, as well as for editing and all the suggestions, which improved the story so much. You're the best!!

My ficlet!!!
*does the Dance of Squee around the laptop*
Perfect for this pairing, realistic.
Love Harry kicking CJS at the start.
The scenes you described from the wedding, Caroline bitching about housekeeping at Sera's wedding; I can just imagine her doing that and Harry blasting her.
Lucky Caroline lived to enjoy herself later.
Excellent work, all your devoted fangirls enjoy this world so much.

Your ficlet! And I am so very happy you enjoyed it.

The scenes you described from the wedding, Caroline bitching about housekeeping at Sera's wedding; I can just imagine her doing that and Harry blasting her.

I was wondering if I could think of something that would fit the unspecified "falling out" I wrote into the first few paragraphs, but that scenario occurred rather easily. *g*

Thank you so much for reading and commenting, here and all through B&T.

After this and the previous story, I think you could write some wonderful regency romance, whether or not it has anything to do with Pirates. I wish you would, it's so hard to find them in the style I like (since I read everything Georgette Heyer wrote) and your writing has the same something I love. It was a nice surprise to have something so soon after the end of the last one.

Now that's a compliment of the highest order and you have me blushing here. I suppose I should try a short story or two, just to see if I can write something original, lol! I've been writing fanfiction almost exclusively since I was a little kid.

I'm so happy you enjoyed this. I'll be writing a few more "deleted scenes" and fill-ins, so if you have one you'd like to see please let me know. Thank you so much for reading and commenting.

Well, there's hope for Caroline yet (clearly proof that an old bitch dog is indeed capable of learning new tricks)! And bravo to George, for his hand in taming that particular shrew (and for seeing the potential in her to be more "human", and then helping her to fulfil that potential)! Truly a miracle worker, is George Swann (as Jack points out)! ;-D ( ... )

I can't believe I didn't reply to this. My sincere apologies, and thanks.

Harry and Caroline do have certain things in common -- and maybe association with George will continue to have a good influence on Aunt Caroline. *g*

Thank you, again, for the wonderfully detailed comments.
