Hey, do any of you know of any free software to permanently remove files from your computer? All the files that I empty from my recycle bin are still somewhere on my computer and now I have no space. I need to find out how to remove these. Thanks!

From a security standpoint you are correct. The files are not totally gone once deleted. BUT from a free space perspective it's not stealing any HD room from you. It is sitting on your HD with the rest of the free HD room and will be overwritten by new data just like the rest of your free space, from a HD space perspective you don't have anything to worry about. :)

I just had my computer analyzed a few days ago by a friend who's a computer expert and he said that he could only find 1/3 of my files. The rest are hidden somewhere. I have 0% space on my hard drive and have uninstalled countless programs and hundreds of mb worth of files. This is such a mystery to me.

um, if you friend left you with more questions than answers, I'd wager he's not an expert.

Um, he left me with far less questions than answers than before I had him look at my computer. And I feel that someone who's been making his own computers since 5th grade and selling them, amongst all his other knowledge with pc's constitutes him as an expert in my opinion.

Thanks! Well, I downloaded that and then found that pretty much all of the space being used is on my C drive and that Windows Installer Patch is taking up the most room. I don't know what Windows Installer is though.
