Self-hosted RSS reader for web?

Does anybody know of a good RSS reader that I can host myself (standard LAMP stack available, except the "L" is "FreeBSD")? I'm not particularly thrilled with the desktop RSS readers--except for Firefox itself, but it doesn't handle image-based feeds well--and I have no interest in going the Google Reader route. Thanks. That's a handy link, I'm looking through it now. To clarify, I'm looking for something that's like Google Reader but that I can host on my own server. Maybe this site has links.

I see what you're getting at and I'm doing my damnedest to avoid being snarky at you. ^_^

Try all the desktop readers first unless you have some good reason to avoid them.

If your issue with Google is a privacy thing, think deeply on how much you really stand to lose if your web browsing habits become google-knowledge. They've made a very nice RSS reader that you can access from anywhere. Many other companies out there host similar services. There are lots of simpler options than hosting your own.

No problem on the snark bit. As for "why on Earth are you trying to reinvent the wheel?" Having used Google Reader, I wasn't too thrilled, and there's other, financial shall we say, considerations. I'd rather not use a desktop client as I like having the feeds available wherever, whenever.

Plus, rolling or hosting my own is a lot more geeky... I have a colo server, why not use it? :) I thought I'd ask around first to see if anyone else has a platform, or, in the absence, just do it myself.

That ... is perfect. Thank you! If it does half what the project page claims, I should be well-satisifed.

This, too, looks very useful and perhaps more customizable than Gregarius. Thanks for the link!

(In addition, your icon is awesome. Have you seen A Matter of Loaf and Death?)

If you're just looking for an aggregator, http://www.planetplanet.org/ might work too. It's really just an aggregator and not full of other related features, but sometimes "do one thing and do it well" is what you want. :)
