Teen Wolf - S3E6 - Motel California

Another really solid episode. This season is really on fire. You could maybe categorize this ep as a bit of filler, but with the details the Argent's and Decaulion's history with the motel, it may really prove to be important for later in the season.

Lots of really interesting elements and moments - with some less than stellar aspects as well.

Really loved the teamwork between Stiles, Lydia, and Allison. You could not get more clutch than Stiles was in this episode. He's definitely a hero. Almost as impressive as him saving Scott was his rushing in to save Ethan. It didn't matter that Ethan was "evil" and one of the bad guys, he didn't hesitate to save his life, at great risk to himself.

The Scott/Stiles scene at the end was the absolute highlight for me. That bromance is beautiful. I know Dylan/Stiles is getting the most props, but I thought TP was really great in that scene. I could really feel Scott's despair and it was heartbreaking. Really, really wish we had got a hug at the end. I kept screaming for a hug, but nothing.

I can definitely get behind Ethan/Danny now. Not only was the make-out hot, but I liked getting glimpses into Danny' backstory and seeing that Ethan does care about what happens to him. Very intrigued about Ethan wanting to turn Danny, don't know if he'll let it drop after Danny said he liked his scars.

Felt so bad for Isaac during his meltdown. DS was great when he was hearing the voices. One of the things I didn't like about the episode was the resolution, or lack thereof, to Isaac and Boyd's part of the story. We're basically left with Boyd confused and dripping in the bathroom and Isaac being hit with the flare off-screen. Yeah, we briefly see them on the bus later. But given everything they went through in that episode, I would have liked some kind of follow up.

Boo to no Scott/Isaac. I guess I can't expect them to interact every week, plus I had a feeling they wouldn't interact much in this episode.

Chris may need to be slapped. What the heck is he doing holing Gerard away somewhere and keeping it secret? Hope he has a good explanation.

Just going to get my feelings for Derek/Jennifer out there. I'm not a huge Stiles/Derek fan. Their interaction is very funny and they have a lot of chemistry, but they interact too seldom for me to ship it. My dislike for Jennifer, Jennifer/Derek doesn't have much to do with Stiles/Derek. From her first ramble, mentioning her therapist, I had a feeling they were trying to position Jennifer as one of those lovably quirky neurotic characters. To me, I don't know if it's the writing or the actress, or a combination, but Jennifer just annoys me. I get why she was scared and panick-y at the beginning of the episode but something about her quivery voice and freak-out came off as forced and made me like her less.

I had tried to give the show the benefit of the doubt that they'd explain why Derek sought her out, especially since it seems all he needed was someone to take him back to his place. But no luck that added to my agitation with the scenes.

We get it Jennifer is an English teacher, enough with the literary reference. And one of Jennifer's most annoying moments was her giddy, teenage, swoon-y smile when she brought up "Romeo & Juliet." Hello, that's not some great romantic story. It's a tragedy, so unless you want a matching wound, cut it out with the dreamy gazes.

Most of us know that Derek is a walking spontaneous orgasm magnet. Yes, his body is wonderful but another turn-off was Jennifer's attitude of basically "You're a walking open wound...want to make out?" When someone has a huge jagged gash in their side and they're oozing black fluids, probably not the best time for hanky panky. Before they started making out, the way she was staring at him, practically licking her lips...ugh. Yes, Derek is a sexy beast. But she's just met him. 75% of the times she has seen him has involved Derek being covered in blood. There's the horrible, disgusting wound issue. She can't be sure if he's even human. For most normal people I don't think that would lead to lady hard on.

Plus, how the show presented it was horrible IMO. Why they would intercut the sex with Scott's breakdown I don't understand. Obviously, Derek doesn't know what's happening or would have any clue that Scott was nearly driven to suicide by the Dorach, but having Scott partially breaking down over Derek's "death" while Derek's sexing up a woman he just met, was decidedly unsexy, for me.

And ugh his wound healing. I guess all Derek needed was the love of a good woman, or having sex with one. I know we've been through this before with Scott/Allison and Jackson/Lydia but at least with those couples those moments felt earned.

I don't want Jennifer to turn out to be evil. After what happened with Kate if that were to be the case I don't think Derek would ever trust another woman or bed partner. I just want this to be a brief, pit stop and then we can move on.
