Teen Wolf - S3E10 - The Overlooked

A mixed bag of an episode for me. There were a lot of good moments of action or some good character moments, but there was also so much exposition at the end. I know that they needed to get the plot going, and I'm glad they tried to flesh out Jennifer, and some of that mistletoe info was interesting, it just dragged a bit ( Read more... )

I totally agree they should have bothered to make us give a shit about Cora, but I feel like I can handwave the other characters' concern for her to a certain degree.

Peter has spent most of his limited interactions with Cora being snarky, he killed one of his other nieces, and he is barely human with anyone. So him fussing over Cora didn't ring true to me. I agree with this, except that we've drawn lots of attention to him being a sociopath, and sociopaths mimic normal human affection/concern/other behaviors in order to make people trust them. So they could be doing something with that! It could be an act he's putting on to lure people in and get his way later.

Isaac has shared no scenes with her, but is all in a rush to get to Cora and in the previews is screaming at Derek about not helping Cora. I'd guess Isaac just sees her as part of the pack, and he seems to be a very affectionate person in general, and someone with a huge instinct to protect people, probably because his dad was such a shit to him.

I've never thought any of ( ... )

I definitely think peter is up to something. He's always up to something. But the way they presented it I wasn't sure if they were going for that or trying to show Peter's concern as genuine.

After watching last night's episode, Isaac's reaction makes more sense to me since it's not necessarily completely about Cora, but about everything that was going on.

Looks like more likely they may be going in a Stiles/Lydia direction.

OMG, I thought last night's scene of Isaac screaming at Derek was ridiculous, OOC, and unnecessary. Wtf was that episode? I am just. The whole thing was so effing out of character for EVERYONE and super overdramatic. I just want to shake them and say, "Actually, playing nonstop intense background music does not make your scene more intense! It just makes you look silly!"

They've been setting up Lydia/Stiles for a long time, but I don't honestly see it going anywhere. I certainly don't see it as an endgame pairing. I think they'll sort of realize they're just bros and then have BFF bonding. Could be wrong! But if Teen Wolf uses storytelling tools the way many other shows do, that's my guess.

Oh, I really liked that scene. I've wanted Isaac to confront Derek about changing him for awhile and that was a scene that should have happened after Derek threw him out.

There was definitely a lot wrong about the ep though and I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked.

I don't think Lydia/Stiles will be an endgame pairing, but I'm not quite sure what they're going to do with them in the short term. I'm actually not sure what they'll do with them. They could pair them or not. It'll either be a "Wow, you've had a crush on me for years and I never realized how good we could be together" kind of story. Or Stiles will realize that he wasn't in love with Lydia, but just had a crush and they'll be BFFs.
