Good call on not taking the shoes that would have been uncomfortable - even one day is too much with badly-fitting shoes, you'd be torturing yourself and adding needless stress and pain to a day that should have as little of both as possible. :-) Plus, paying money for shoes that you'll never want to wear again makes no sense!
I'm not sure why your mother and Jean are so eager to have you wear heels, but as other commenters have said, there are some very very pretty flats suitable for bridal wear out there.

It's more my mom than Jean that's the heel obsessive. She thinks it's a wedding and you're supposed to wear heels to that, it's not proper without it, and she thinks the pictures will come out better, since Mike and I would probably be the same height in the right pair of shoes.
But, yeah, I have found far more cute flats that I like and given my difficulty to find anything, if I can find flats that work for me, that's what I'll do.

I have like 3 pairs of shoes I feel comfortable in and I seriously hate to go shoe shopping and I also hate high heels so I totally know the problem here *hugs*
Hope, you can still find something you like!

My friend recently got married and bought a pair of heels for the wedding and then a pair of flats for the reception.

The two shoes idea is definitely popular. If I go with getting heels, I might consider it.
