Almost two months to go until the wedding and we still haven't picked a honeymoon spot. It's one of those issues that Mike and I seem to kind of have radically different ideas about ( Read more... )

The train idea definitely sounds appealing. We'll definitely look into it.

Wow, sounds like a lot of options to consider! It's good that you are holding true to what you're interested in - sometimes when I see cruise ads I think they look cool, but I know I'd probably not enjoy it if I ever did one.

I can only speak as someone who looooves overseas travel (I guess I should say "international" travel, but being Australian, everything is "overseas", lmao), and say that it's an awesome experience. You could go somewhere that also has good beaches (of your suggestions, Italy makes the most sense in that regard) so that Mike can get beach time in too. But it won't be cheap, so there's that.

If I had my dream Honeymoon, it would definitely be to Italy. And, I do think it would be the best option for Mike because of the beaches. I found a deal the other day. It's a good price - well under 1k round-trip for both of us, but still doesn't seem within our price range right now.

Ah man... under 1k for even one person for return flights to Europe from here is impossible. >___<

It sounds like you have interest in some of the other options too. I hope that whatever you choose, you get that quality time together that's so special.

And... you must be excited now! So close!

I vacillate between excitement and sheer terror. :)

Oh, S! You need to really really decide on an adventure that suits BOTH of you!!! There is the rest of your lives to take turns doing things one of you prefers!

And yeah, definitely trade up on the limo deal!

Yeah, I definitely think doing something we both like is best. Thankfully, Mike and I were talking the other day and he agrees that he wants to make sure that I do something I can enjoy as well.

I'm not a big cruise fan, but I'm also not a big beach fan or sit and do nothing fan. I can sit and do nothing at home so when I travel I prefer to have things to do. Cruises just feel cheezy to me, lots of "planned activities" and such. Unless there is a themed cruise...like if someone put a gun to my head and said "YOU WILL CRUISE" I'd do like the JoCo cruise or the Paramore cruise...but that is just me. Otherwise all you do is eat and drink and sit around. Which I can do for about...2 hours. Then I'm bored.

Honestly though, you should pick something you BOTH want to do, not just one of you. I think something like your Goonies cabin sounded awesome because it was unique, has a cool meaning for you. I know it's expensive though. :( Could you drive there? The less popular the destination, the more expensive to fly there. But better to create a happy memory for the two of you than just doing the cruise and then you not having as much fun as you could have. Might as well start off your marriage right.

Driving up there could be fun, though I don't think either of us would want to do that for the honeymoon, since it would probably take a long time to get there.

But we're definitely working on ideas where we can do things both of us enjoy.

*hugs*

I don't envy you having to make a decision like that. I hope you manage to come up with something that makes you both happy though.
