What IS it with piles?

I really do not get neat people. Where are all their things? Do NOT lie to me and tell me that they are sorted, stacked, filed and placed in exactly the absolutely right spot for them. The detritus we collect in life for the most part HAS no proper spot. It exists in pockets, and purses, and drawers and hides under beds and on shelves, in messy

I am fairly brutal with getting rid of stuff -- almost to a fault. It drives Steven crazy, because he has his mother's packrat tendencies (I once left a candy wrapper on his desk for THREE MONTHS, just to see if he would get rid of it. He didn't.).

My only choices are: trash, recycle, or donate. That's it. There are a few things I'm sentimental about, but they are few and far between...and tend to be small and displayed.

I think if I had a closet that was secretly an incinerator, I wouldn't miss a thing. That way I'd feel like I had done my part, and then it just...goes away...

Bigger houses. I like that idea better. More dogs!
