Well, my good mood from the weekend has been shot all to hell today. My hopes of a much higher paying job have been dashed and for the life of me I can't find anything else I can even begin to apply for

I know (I really, really know) these words aren't going to see very helpful, but you have to stay as positive as you can right now. The job didn't work out; they usually don't. Keep that resume going; pimp yourself to anything and everyone.

(I don't suppose your dad could encourage your brother to actually work? So he's just mooching, right?)

Sadly every time I talk to my dad about that, he says he'll "get right on it" and never does...he's been "getting on it" for two months now and my brother is still a rabid moocher.

It's just ridiculous that you're suddenly supposed to support them. I know you love them, but that's ridiculously. Seriously, if you left, what would they do?

They'd lose the house for one...my dad's income isn't large enough to manage everything. It's my responsibility to make sure this house stays with us because it was my mom's pride and joy.

But what it boils down to is they're treating me like they did mom and I have no escape route because I won't lose this house and to keep that from happening I am forced to live with them and deal with their bull.

So what's the deal with your brother...why isn't he looking for work? I thought after that incident a few months ago w/the cops he was going to make an effort to change things.

Just keep looking, don't stop searching for work, no matter how many times you get knocked down. It never comes easy, ya know? How about working in a bank? An office as a general assistant or file clerk? Check out local health systems like a hospital nearby, etc., that's how I landed my job. Over at the hospital they are often hiring for operators to direct calls & asset patients with making appointments for xrays and such.

He has changed for the most part...he's just lazy. I've laid down an ultimatum for him last night...if he gets one more social security check in June, he has until July to find a job or his phone and the dish get cut off because I cannot afford to pay those.

And the woes of jobs around here are that there really aren't any bank openings because usually those who get those jobs stay there until the bitter end. All other jobs I could find listings for either need certification of some kind or I'm not qualified for in the least. But the search continues I guess.

Yep, that's all you can do - keep looking. I hope the ultimatum to him pays off, it's time to grow up and see the reality of your financial situation. Everyone needs to do their part.
