Isn't there something impossible about a classified ad that lists the company as an EOE, but is advertising for a FEMALE JANITORIAL WORKER? (caps are from the ad)

......Yyyeeeeaaaah... there's... just... something wrong about that. XD

Oh gosh. What if the government said "..Equal opportunity? Where are your FEMALE JANITORS?! Get or DIE!" XD

That's what I'm afraid happened....
Don't get me started on my Affermative Action rant.

Oh goodness I hope not. Because.. outside of college.. the only kinds of janitors I've seen were guy janitors and guy janitors with only three fingers on one hand. And... I'm having trouble thinking of a reason why a person would specifically need a female one.... :s

Darned Affirmative Action and its good intentions going horribly, horribly wrong.

I can see reasons for hiring one particular gender for a janitor, easily.
For instance, where I work there is a residential unit where only females work. Why? Cause only females live on that unit, and placing male staff on that unit will make the girls go crazy. I've seen it. They don't need more behaviors, and trust me, these are extreme. Stripping, throwing things...acting out sexually in ways that would make your eyes wish they were on fire.

How about as a janitor at a battered women's shelter? There are plenty of reasons why one gender is prefered over another, particularly with the industry that I work in.

If it's not something like that...perhaps its that they need someone to clean the ladies room.

As neweuropa points out, the equal opportunities rules and guidelines can be bent and broken if you have a legitimate reason to need one gender or other. It could be as simple as the toilets are cleaned during the day while in us - so you need female employees to enter the female bathroom

I know...it just sounded so...ironic.
And I am a sucker for irony :)
