I want to see Sin City so badly.

But the movie reviews are so dumb. Not that they will dissuade me from seeing it in any way. I just hate how dumb they are. Excerpts:

Classically, Noir has a lot less violence than it is generally remembered to have.

I know. Still, the noir heroes are tough cookies and they'll slap you around if they want.

Of course, the newer Noirish movies such as Payback have increased the violence quotient a bit. *crushes some dude's toes*

Which, to me, makes the excessive violence in Sin City fit. It's not really classical noir, it's a distillation of classical noir's essence.

The Onion's AV Club has a fairly decent review that praises it as a work of art, for the most part. Their reviews are usually well-written and they're pretty much my gold standard for "do I want to see this movie?" decisions.
