Definitely heard this before, I'm sure it won't be the last either. He's really determined to accomplish this dream. I think his determination is one of his most admirable qualities. A lot of people say they want to do good for the world but it's really only a few who have enough determination and motivation to continually strive to acomplish such a large goal.

Ah, thanks so much for this translation! I was actually just thinking today how to America, all Asians are... well, Asians! It's funny, isn't it, how over here people tend to look at it the way that Gackt would probably like all Asians to look at it. But Gackt has made me realize that in Asia, it's not like it is here. I remember walking down a Korean block in Tokyo, and having Saori say "Walk fast, these are Koreans." I was like "Huh?! They're cute!" Haha~

To be honest, I think it'd be great if all Asians could get along and become one. I think that that could even be a step on something greater--the fact that we are all PEOPLE. But like you said, hate or dislike takes a long time to unravel, and it's too bad that things happen in the first place that makes us dislike one-another. *Sigh*

Hahaha, yeah, that's probably a common reaction in Japan... I'm like you, though~ if they're cute, what does it matter? XD I always liked the cute Korean boys at school, and thought it was a shame that even in America some groups just couldn't mix. ^^;

It's gonna take a lot of time, but it has to start somewhere~ And small steps will lead to bigger ones! I guess we all have to do our part to make sure we ALL become one. ^^

Well, people think I'm from China, or Mongolia, or Japan....we're all Asians in their eyes although we call ourselves Chinese, Singaporean, Malaysian etc.
I've never really thought about it until I read Gackt's interviews. I agree with him, and it amazes me that he cares so deeply about this.

not only Gackt fans or music fans, but people who watch Fuurin Kazan. And that would be a LOT of people. It's exciting to know that people from an older generation will be coming across articles in the paper where Gackt talks about culture overcoming barriers between Asian countries. After articles saying that he's been so popular among the more senior ladies in Japan, this is so very true. ^_^ I'm so glad when I first read how he managed to change the mindsets of the more "conservative"-thinking obasans.. you know.. win over their support even though they were questioning his portrayal of a historical figure. XD

Hahaha, oh really? I need to read those articles! I can imagine my own mom watching and nodding at Gackt's portrayal. XD Actually, I really would like to know what my parents think about him. My dad commented that Kenshin was a strange character, but I don't know what he thinks of Gackt himself. ^^;

It's definitely hard to change the mindsets of the older generation... It's so much easier to influence the younger ones because they have more of a clean slate to start with. That's why it's all the more impressive if Gackt can influence that older generation, or at least let them see another perspective.

My dad is a history teacher and he can tell us all sorts of stories from the amusing to the gruesome. It's hard not to be affected when you hear what was done to your great-uncle in the transition phase of WW2, or how Malacca fell into the Portugese hands..to say just a few of the ones he told almost verbatim to us more than once. You just can't unlearn that. It's routed into your subconscious.

I guess it's good to be watchful, in this era where it's so easy for another country to label you anything they please based on your race and religion..just as long as we try not to be bitter about it and alwiz work towards forging alliances, if not friendship and reach out for compromises, if not true understanding.

Reading about how he appreciates his roots makes me want to appreciate mine as deeply too. Gackt-san ganbare~
