how big will hawaii be in 2050? will it ever reach california?

I'm glad you asked this question, as the information I'm about to parlay to you is important to know. In the year 2050, Hawaii probably will not have changed very drastically. It loses a few inches every year. However, eventually the island of Hawaii will crumble into so much sediment and cover the ocean's floor from whence it came. Currently, there is a brand new Hawaiian island forming miles below the ocean's surface. It's called "Loihi", and it will rise to join whatever remains of Hawaii in about 20,000 years or so. Hawaii is basically a heated plume of oceanic crust, ya see.

It is highly probable that someday it will reach California. Or more likely that California will reach it! But if California stays where it is, then one day we will be able to drive to Japan. Just stick around a coupla hundred million more years! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHA ohhh boy!
