=O Why. This sounds better than any paper I've ever written. But wait you're allowed to use wiki? My teachers have all boycotted it. They refuse to accept it as a credible source. Even the ones with citations at the bottom. DDD:
I only used wiki to pick a philosopher. Since our teacher just told us to pick whoever we wanted, just as long as we can say that person was a philosopher (there was this kid who asked if he was allowed to use his dad XDDDD).
There are Christian existentialists, too, bb! Kierkegard, the guy for my paper is one of them. XD
I'm just kinda worried that it's too... unusual and informal for an intro. >_> It's really hard when all the guidelines our teacher gave us were 'write a paper about any philosopher of your choice'. I don't know what she wants to see, and I kinda need a good grade because I've already missed quite a number of classes and one report. -__-'
Kierkegaard. And yes, I'm using him (since he's the first name that was listed under 'existentialists') XDDD Darn it, I knew I should've just asked you guys when I was looking for a philosopher. >: But I liked what I read about how Kierkegaard grew up, though. So dramatic. And I'm pretty sure I won't be able to understand Fear and Trembling at all, even if by some miracle I'd be given extra days to read it, so the paper'll simply be about his life and a few other paraphrased/summarized info about him. *rolls*
Oh yes, yes, I didn't use wiki. XD Like what I just told ezyl up there, I only used it for the sake of easy access to names. XD
Oh, and since two people already pointed it out, in this paragraph:
A biography search was then in order and heaven forbid I search Wikipedia, however helpful the site had been, for having stepped into university I had learned the grim truth of the site’s lack of credibility when it comes to the matter of referencing. It didn’t hurt to check the references noted there, however.
I meant to say that I couldn't use wiki, even though it had been quite helpful 'cause I've already had more than a few teachers telling us not to trust it. I did, however, check the footnotes and references noted at the bottom since a couple of those are from real books that I might possibly find an e-book copy of online.
Actually, your intro is pretty fun! You used a light-paced narrative which managed to draw me in. :D
Perhaps the only thing I can point out is that you dwelled a bit too much on your search for a person to write on, rather than limit your paper within the topic. (I'm assuming that you need to write on a philosopher o_o) Then again, I have probably been brainwashed by our prof who insists on doing that, thus having me write more drafts than what's normal D:
But our lessons aside, I really liked this intro b^o^ /scurries away
Yes! That's exactly what I was worried about. D: That there was too much stuff included that wasn't really important. :/// I'm really anxious about what the teacher would think... which is really what matters, lol. XDDD
But thank you, though! The deadline was extended so I might consider refining it or something.

Existentialism is such a nice word, I would almost even embrace it if not for my religion.

despite the word not being coined a few decades later.
You do mean 'until' a few decades later, right? C:

I guess it didn't come off that way?
