Sometimes, reading through posts about how a fan analyzes a series, about how a character differs in the manga and the anime, how this event wasted a chance for character development, how this detail in the world-building is lacking and the mangaka seems to rely on artistic license too much, it makes me feel like those fans have put much more ( Read more... )

fans are scary, blog talk

AHAHAAHHA This is very much like me. E-Except that I don't do 'good' analytic posts and I'm just biased and I enjoy it too much. It also never ceases to amaze me at how easier it is to remember canon facts as compared to RL canon facts (I am terrible at history, as well as bookish subjects OTL)

I suppose character analysis... well... it helps me in a way that I get connected with a character and I don't forget him/her easily. As I've said, I'm not good with memorizing and my memory storage cleans itself every, what, a month or so? So when I establish these connections (no matter how far-fetched and stupid and conceited (lol) they may be), the character embeds him/herself in my mind

I share your amazement, though. Some analytic posts are just... woah. The ones which amaze me the most are those who appear like they were written effortlessly, like one article I read about TTGL being an anti-Evangelion (I thought, did the creator really intend to recreate Eva in a totally different way? like you said above ( ... )

Oooh, I can totally relate to that whole remembering animanga canon facts compared to RL ones. XDDD Maybe because history is so droll. Though I have a good feeling that if it was turned into a manga, like Hetalia, I'd like History much, much more. *shot*

Yes, yes! Those analysis are really awesome. It's as if it was simply just a thought off their head, an off-hand observation or something.

Lol. It just occurred to me while reading through this one (fan) author's manga meta posts. XD

Hi, I don't know you, but that doesn't matter, since apparantly, YOU ARE ME.

Or something. ^^;;;;

Apparantly, a trick I found is basically turn it into something interesting in your head. A.K.A. "I substituted nations with Hetalia characters in my head to remember what happened! :D"

JUST THE SAME THING o___o (although for me, Hetalia came too late since we're done with WW and all that -__-)

I used to use anime pairings to memorize the periodic table but my goldfish-memory enabled me to forget it as soon as recitation was over heehee

Sometimes I wonder if the mangaka ever goes, "...That's not how I meant for that scene to be interpreted, you fool!"

Maybe Shakespeare thinks that when we keep reproducing and analyzing his work. /random

GELLY I MISS YOU. /flees

I half-agree, half-wish to argue as there ARE some things that make more sense based on what a character has done in the past, especially if it's indicative of their core personality. If a mangaka messes up along the line, it's because they made a mistake, either by forgetting a necessary detail about the character, not caring, or not bothering to give us hints to the character's true nature and executed the reveal poorly or thoughtlessly.

The rest of the time... I'm certain fans probably think more about these shows and characters than even the creators. Creators need notes to keep track of this stuff, fans know it all by heart. xDD;
