Last time I updated properly I had just got back to Traralgon after a week and a half hanging out in Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane. I never really did an update of those adventures. I'm slack.
I've spent 3 WEEKENDS in a ROW in TRARALGON! Seriously I was going crazy by the end of it. I worked every weekend I was down there. Work is hectic at the moment and never ending. I have that sinking feeling like I might never get my to-do list under control. And I have to prioritise my work based on who is yelling the most or the loudest.
The only highlights from the last few weeks in Traralgon were a couple of nights out on the town (farewells for people from work - Rick and Tony) and the start of the indoor netball competition. We've entered a mixed netball team and I am playing centre. It feels pretty good to do exercise again. I'd forgotten how much I love netball. I've only played one game and we lost 33-7 so lots room for improvement. I think once the Americans get their shooting sorted (ie. realise there is no back board in netball) and we improve our passing and fitness then we will be unstoppable! Ok maybe I'm dreaming but we do have a lot of fun playing so that's the main thing!
Traralgon is killing me. The project is killing me. I've just reached that point where I honestly think I might be burnt out and over it. I'm not really getting much support at the moment for what I am doing. I'm going to be having some discussions this week with a few people about the possibility of leaving the project and coming back to Sydney. Will see how that goes. I think people in Traralgon will have a fit if I leave.
I'm in Sydney at the moment having a much needed break from Traralgon. I got up here on Friday night and I'm working from Sydney this week and going back to Victoria on Sunday. It's been a pretty awesome few days... it's amazing how much better I feel about everything when I have fun things to do, friends to hang out with, and I'm not working all the time.
Saturday I had a 3 hour brunch with Carley and Amber. Great to catch up with them. Saturday night I went out to The Gate at Ryde for backyard gig party where Border Thieves and Betty Airs plays. Jonny djed under his new name DJ HTML6. Loads of the usual people that go to gigs were there, so great hangouts. I also took some photos which is the first time I've picked up my digital slr camera in a VERY long time. Sunday I had a few afternoon beers at Cronulla with Ivan and Carley. I hadn't seen Ivan for ages (years?) so again another great catch up.
Monday night I saw LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip at the Hordern. The gig was alright. Hot Chip were a good warm up act. I don't really like LCD Soundsystem's new album but the older songs were still great. The performance wasn't nearly as good as their performance at the Enmore back on Australia Day in 2008 but I was still really glad I went. I danced so much and it felt great. So apparently Monday night is the new party night? Well in Sydney anyway. We kicked on after the gig at the after party at the Flinders Hotel (aka Bar Bang Gang). Too many beers later... We left about 1am and the place was still going nuts.
Work was a bit of a struggle on Tuesday but I made it to the office in Chatswood. Had dinner on Tuesday night at Josh (White) and Susan's place. Yummy mexican food. Those guys are awesome! And that brings us to Wednesday. Today I am working from home which means it's 4pm and I haven't showered and I am still in my pjs. Love it.
