So, I spend a lot of time wondering how people are gendering me. Because it's so hard to get masculine speed-reads out of people (most clearly demonstrated through clerks and waitstaff who are required to use a gendered honorific), I tend to get obsessed with it and try harder and harder ( Read more... )

Also, how much does shaved head = strange and/or possibly non-cis-gendered.... even to people who don't know that they know what cis-gendered is?

It definitely sets off the Weirdo bell on a feminine-read person. How people interpret that bell varies wildly.

In the case of the coffee shop, I was wearing my cute lavender bobble hat, so I just don't even know.
