About the first Hetalia strips

While translating the first Hetalia strips, I noticed three things:

1. Veneziano is always seen eating pizza and is said to eat too many tomatoes. This is interesting, because later on it was established that these were Romano's favorite foods, while Veneziano was supposed to be obsessed with pasta.

It's a bit of a late reply but I just saw this post!

1. It's odd that the pizza thing seems to have been downgraded, lol. It is interesting to see how some of his traits seem to have been given to Romano. Also I always thought it was funny when I watched the anime that he sort of cusses at Germany when he's watching him invading France on TV, but in the next scene pops up wanting to be his ally. XDD

Incidentally I've always found Vene and Roma's relationship as brothers really interesting.

2. That was supposed to be England? Who knew? XDDDDD Seriously, I had no idea who that was.

3. OMG it really is kesese! Wow, what ifs. XD

1. In addition, I just found an old strip in which Veneziano is singing a Southern Italian song! (It's possible that Hima hadn't actually come up with the idea of two separate Italies at that time, though.) And yeah, his relationship with Romano has always been one of the best things about Hetalia, IMO. :D

2. I know! I could only tell it was England because his name (UK / イギリス) was literally written on his person in the last panel! XD

3. Maybe Prussia got it from him? XD

1. I could see Romano being a later addition, yes. It's hard to imagine the manga without him. He's one of my faves. I think he /is/ my fave.

2. I never pay enough attention to the non-dialogue text it seems. XD

3. Yeah, I could even see Prussia seeing his beloved Italy-chan doing it once and he then he starts doing it himself. All the time. XDD
