This has been kicking around in my folder for a month or so, undergoing endless tweaking. (Poor words. I never let them catch a break).

I love Sam's despair here, and how Dean recognizes that this is killing Sam as surely as it is Dean, but this line was the best for me: “I’m sorry.” He’s said it before, and meant it, in a way-in many ways-but not like this. This time, he’s talking about all of it. “I wouldn’t undo it, but I’m so sorry.” That's Dean, the big brother. He can stand anything as long as Sam's alive.

Loved this; so painful and gritty and gorgeous. Great job.

So, apparently this is really old, but it just got recced today and imo there is no such thing as too late a comment ... so might I just say, that this made me sob like a little kid who just found out Disney Land got blown up by terrorists. Or something else really sad.

Oh. I think you broke me. I tend to think stories that remind us that the deal was such a betrayal for Sam, that he's gone through a hell of a lot he probably shouldn't have because of it, are good, especially after season four. But, man, this? Is almost too much. Ouch. Great, great job!
