THIS is exactly why John is loveable!

When he was too exhausted or worried to think straight, to listen to his heart (or his boys) before he spoke - he had regrets about it.

You've done a wonderful job with this. Didn't soften his flaws or failings as a father, but made us care anyway. Using IMTOD as the trigger for this reflection - and resolution - is simply perfect.

Thank you SO much!! And I so agree--this is the John I can make my peace with, in spite of whatever mistakes he may have made.

What I find interesting about your story is that the last paragraph really could be Sam, which ties in so nicely to what has happened on the show now. I think Sam's regrets and grief have sunk him even lower than John.

Wow--excellent point. Show definitely drove it home this season, how similar they are...and it seems like, now, in the most tragic off ways. Poor Winchesters! :( (Thank you!)
