This Journal Is Now Friends Only

I didn't want to do this, but I've been pushed to it. Yet another Russian-only journal has friended me without having ever spoken to me before. (As of 9/29 - there are SIX! accounts that post in Russian only with no common interests that have added me to their friends list.)

This makes me very uncomfortable, and since LiveJournal says it's not their

I had a bunch of Russian people add me as well, and I never could figure out why. I did get a response from one of them who said they'd post their entries in English and never did. This has been awhile back, and people finally did stop. However, I had a tracking meter on my profile page, and I had a lot of people from Russia checking out my journal without friending me. I never could figure out why.

that's really creepy, and weird, wonder why they're friending you? have you opted out of searches? I get ljs come up in some of my google alerts and occasionally I'll comment on things I've seen through there and I'm sure they must wonder how I found them.

I actually had minimized my inclusion in searches and removed myself from promotion within LJ. So I have no idea how these users found me or why.....

And since they only post in Russian, I can't even ask them.

Its kinda sad that you were forced into going Friends Only when you really didnt want too, but you have to do what you have to do. Ive always been friends only and I have never and will never add back anyone that I havent had contact with....it just makes me suspicious. *shrugs* (I know that sounds kinda paranoid, but its the truth) Ive been friended like that before, knowing good and well, there was no "reason" to be added in the first place, so, with virtually no publics posts, I dont worry about it. lol

Well a big part of my concern is that I was contacted by someone who wanted to translate my fanfic into Russian and repost it on her journal, crediting me as the author.

I refused, because I don't read Russian, and therefore had no way to verify that what was being accredited to me was anything even close to what I had actually written. For all I knew, it could be a diatribe against some foreign gov't and I'd have no way to say differently.

Right after that, the first of the Russian accounts flisted me. But I shrugged that off. But when there are two more and within 48 hours of each other.... I'm done.
