How odd to imagine people have mottos. I have principles, but I've never met a motto (by which I presume to mean a pithy corporate slogan) that so encompasses my worldview I'd structure my life around it. First thing that comes to mind for me is "don't be an asshole".
Don't be an asshole seems like a baseline style of life, but it's amazing how many people can't be bothered to not spray everyone around them with their own bullshit.
Note: I just saw an interview last night with an elected official making the argument that lying shouldn't be illegal for politicians since politicians *are in fact* unbelievable and it's the electorate's fault for believing them... so why make it illegal, TOO? That's... **unfair**.
Dunno. I mean honestly, crabs. NO IDEA how they think!
Lol good on you re the chant. I like that one. He sounds like a wanker. Of course as I read your story I think "What would I say if put on the spot like that?
My answer would be "be kind" And I know I would have said it in a manner and voice that strongly pointed out he wasn't kind.
Oh hey I don't know, maybe he was, but still, he does sound like a bit of a dick from your description!
Hey so pandora. tell me about pandora. I have a vine that doesn't flower. Well not that I've managed to convince to flower. It's called pandorea. I was thinking about the meaning of it.
I am pretty adverse to slogans or mantras or mottos so... I was proud that I came up with something that felt like me but satisfied Mr. Leadership.
He wasn't a bad person, just... a bit too blowhard for my own personal tastes. But I appreciated his enthusiasm and clear rules, even if I thought he was silly.
Apparently Pandora as a literal translation means "fully gifted" or "all-giving" depending on who you ask. But it is a beautiful flower.

Yes, I'm glad he wasn't a bad person. It sounds like he just watched too much Dead Poets' Society :-D
Nah seriously, clear rules are always helpful.
That is actually a nicer translation than the concept of opening a chest and letting out all evil. And then at the bottom was hope.
Thankyou!
