I am sorry because certainly, even though you are probably "used to this," these interactions MUST hurt in a variety of ways. (?) They must ( ... )

Thank you for saying so, Megan and I'm sorry you had that awful interaction with your stepmom,... but I'm also glad maybe she got to hear a little bit about the difference between picking someone as a husband and being born to them as their daughter ( ... )

my my my, love you, wench. excellent poetics, engaging story, beautiful way to be, despite treachery. My good LJ friend, Tomas, who periodically comment chats with you? He's bipolar too, though he might deny it.

There is lots to say about my mom that I love, but right after a visit it is usually MUCH easier to complain about her moods and idiosyncrasies than wax poetic about her best qualities.

You write amazingly well. I really have a sense of what being your mom's kid is like. The volcano metaphor is great; this is how volcanoes in Iceland happen.

And I kinda want to see a pic of the hobbit house.

The hobbit house is DELIGHTFULLY cute.
It's the big round door that really takes it from being a cute little house to a fairytale hobbit home.

I'm glad I was able to get something across... all I knew was that mom had just left and we'd only been "talking" for 10 minutes and I was absolutely drained before she even was gone.

Iceland has some truly amazing geology, but I was also surprised how close it resembled home (Inland Northwest U.S.) where we have "The Scablands" which is a 250 mile wide, and 400 mile long hard basalt-rock desert. If our rockfields were covered with moss and shaggy ponies instead of sagebrush and rattlesnakes, they'd almost look identical!

So it really IS a hobbit house! I had in my mind a sort of "She Shed" haha

It really IS a hobbit house!
It has a 5 foot round door, and 6 foot ceilings.
I think it is 8 feet wide by maybe 14 feet long.

Enough room for a single bed, bookshelf, sitting chair, wood stove and a small galley.
