Your coven sounds like they're pretty thorough in their training, which is good.
My take on cursing is that with some people, just being who they are is a curse. I feel that way about my brother Doug.
I cursed someone once, but it came back to me - but then again, maybe he was just receiving his Karma and I was receiving mine.

It's not actually a *coven*, it is a fledgling Tradition of witchcraft that the founders are just starting. The four of them have a coven of their own, but they have decided to start this tradition to help other eclectics who may benefit from some additional structure. The dedication to learning more and having a more regular practice has really benefited me!
I agree with you 100% that some people are just cursed by being who they are... I think they curse themselves really (and I also believe everyone has the power to curse, not just witches... my dad is great at cursing and has cursed me several times with the stuff he's said... "don't lie or I'll know" etc. LOL). It's a hard call to say what is the result of cursing or ill-wishing and what's just karma. Everything that happens to us is a learning curve anyway so at the end of the day maybe it doesn't really matter? I hope you learned from what happened to you and are OK. *Hug*

My biggest suggestion when someone asks me what they should read when they are new to the Craft is "everything." Even if it's crap or doesn't suit your needs, read it. You'll never know what's right for you if you have nothing to compare the book to. So I'm happy you read!
