Vlog and IDGAF Update

It has been a while since I blogged and did an update on how I am going with my IDGAF process. I meant to blog all the way back when I did this video:

Since I filmed the video I have finished reading Wicca by Scott Cunningham and I have finally started reading my final book for IDGAF, Ecstatic Witchcraft - Magick, Philosophy and Trance in the Shamanic Craft by Gede Parma. I'm enjoying it so much already and I can tell it will be a quick read.

The main thing I got out of reading Wicca was an appreciation for Scott Cunningham's simple, down-to-earth approach to his practice and relationship with his gods and the earth. It was a slow read at first, but once I got a few chapters in I really enjoyed it and I can see why so many people who "grew up with it" (ie. it was one of the first Pagan books they read) have such a fondness for it. There were quite a few rituals in there that I could adapt for my own practice. I enjoyed the brief discussion of "Shamanism" (as it is understood in the modern Pagan sense, I do understand that the origins of this word are Siberian and that it's modern usage can be problematic, but on the other hand I do see how it is a useful term to descibe certain practices), as this is the direction that I have been taking in my studies recently.

I have been going along well with my weekly and monthly practice. My weekly practice is still a piece of cake because I actually do something small each day, and monthly practice is still a bit of a struggle. One reason is that my menstrual period has been coinciding with the full moon, so I actually don't feel that great on the full moon and don't always do anything for that reason. For the Spring Equinox I had a really lovely little ritual that I adapted from one I found on the about.com Wicca and Paganism page. It's a great page that one! I lit three candles: a green one (representing the earth), a yellow one (representing the increase of sunlight and growing length of days) and a purple one (representing divinity) in turn and meditated on what they each represented and said some words.

That's all for now. I will be back when I read some more of my final book and have done some more stuff to write about. Perhaps I will do a longer post updating all of you on my life stuff too, but right now I don't feel that way inclined. I do plan to do more YouTube videos as well, so stay posted for those. Thanks for reading! Blessed be. :)
