My last post was about my 'Gaming for Kitties' marathon I do every year for Big Cat Rescue. Wherein I play random computer games for a weekend for donations. In 2013 we made almost 6K. This year? Our final number was $11,111. It's been months and I'm still reeling. Just wanted to update on that ( Read more... )

She was unpleasant and I was angry and bitter about it when I was younger. These days the way I look at it is that I can use my experience to make life better for other people, and since I went through it someone else didn't have to.

Now that you mention it, I do recall your stories of horrid behavior on her part.

...where Tom runs into his abusive illiterate drunk-ass father, and the dude's all angry at Tom because Tom can read: "No son should get above his father!"

I read that passage as a kid and though the words made sense the scene didn't, because I couldn't imagine a parent acting like that. Yet many do.

Whereas my own folks were like "You will be excellent in all things and exceed us in all things OR WE WILL BEAT THE SNOT OUT OF YOU!"

This brought its own problems, certainly, yet I can't help but think now that it was a fault on the side of the angels.

Hearing about yours and Fox's mom makes me more thankful about my family. I may have disagreements with my mom/dad/sister from time to time but I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world.

I think it's awesome what you're doing for Fox. She's incredibly lucky to have such an awesome friend like you :)

It's good that she's got you to help her learn to start living her own life. It really makes you wonder if anyone has had a "normal life" straight through.
