Two second rant

I'm a Chlollier.  You don't have to get it.  You don't have to understand it.  You don't have to throw comic book mythos and Dinah in my face, because if comic mythos mattered to me at all, I wouldn't be a Chlollier.  That is all.  Thank you.

Oliver and Dinah are like the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton of the comics. They are back and forth so much it's ridiculous.

And ITA, a re-imagining or a re-telling is just that. Smallville just happens to have a very volatile fandom, where no matter what anyone enjoys about a show, someone invariably has to trash-talk it. Urgh.

Here's the thing Gen.

The people complaining about Chollie don't give a crap about the comics or the mythos or Dinah or anything like that. They just hate Chloe and therefore don't want her to have any part of the show or an arc or a story. That's it.

Therefore their opinion, while they're free to shout it from the rooftops, means nothing. It's not valid and I find the poo on the bottom of my show more interesting.

Sorry to be crass but I'm sick to death of then shouting down every single little thing that makes Chloe fans happy. And Chollie makes a a lot of Chloe fans happy. It must be giving them heartburn >:(

That was meant to read..."poo on the bottom of my shoe..."

Hate that I can't edit.

*hugs* I know absolutely nothing about the Smallville fandom and ships (save for the ship wars between Clark/Lana and Clark/Chloe that I heard about from my friend WAY back when), but as a Harry/Hermione shipper I completely understand. Ignore the haters. If they're attacking you clearly they feel threatened by your ship - which, if you think about it, just makes it even more legit. They wouldn't be whining if they didn't feel threatened by the chemistry. ^_- Anyway, it's all about whether you enjoy it, which clearly you do. I say go throw yourself into a shipping comm safety net of some kind. That always helps to remind me that there are MANY people who see what I see. And they usually have goodies around to cheer you up. :-)

I usually do my best to ignore the haters, and I don't involve myself in shipper wars or anything like that. I don't trash-talk at all. Let people enjoy what they want out of a show, it takes nothing away from any other shipper group or fandom to do that. I don't get people like that, I really don't.

I had to stop going to certain people's journals and YouTube accounts because of the disrespectful things that were being said about Angel Coulby or the character, Gwen. I mean, is that necessary? So what if you don't like an actor or character, you don't have to bash at every opportunity. It's the thing I despise most about fandoms in general.

Yes, STAY AWAY FROM THE SHIPPING WARS. I made the mistake in my early fandom days of getting involved, and it was PAINFUL. I didn't get into the trash-talk, because seriously, that's just low, but some of the things people said... It's just never fun having to defend WHY you like something when it really has NO effect on others.

God, I will never, ever, EVER understand the Angel Coulby and Gwen hate (ESPECIALLY the Angel hate, because she is the sweetest young woman I've ever seen on television). I've had to distance myself from certain places because of that as well. It's okay to critique a character - that's perfectly legit. But to just bash them over and over? *shakes head* Don't people have a more positive way to spend their time?

The only two girl-crushes I've ever had are Angel Coulby and Allison Mack. I couldn't stand to read the crap anymore, because they are both lovely and sweet and I don't get it... at all.

ITA. Critique, discuss, analyze. That's one thing, but to outright bash and disrespect is just horrible.

You're right they weren't. Never mind that Lois Lane in the comics NEVER EVER dated nor was in love with Oliver Queen. EVER. She briefly dated Bruce Wayne. I didn't see anyone bitch about that.

But iliana's right I think. It's because they hate Chloe, and don't want to ever see the girl find any bit of happiness, even if it's only for a short time.

dude, i am SO there with you on this. i'm there. i have absolute respect for the mythos and peeps who are into that (i have really only been into the tv-smallville side of things), but i'm just hoping that the writers changes it up. especially if this is their last season - and they just say to hell with it: lois and clark are gonna be together, that's the important part as far as mythos goes, and who gives a crap if we change things a little - we are the writers and this is our show.
i know that might be a pipe-dream, but still. point being is i'm definitely of the same opinion - i'm a chlollier, erego OBVIOUSLY mythos is not important to me. i just think they have kick-ass chemistry and are awesome together and it would be a shame to cut that down in this show simply because of comics. that may be blasphemy for comic peeps, but whatever. it's my opinion and it isn't going to change, no matter how many times i hear that dinah and oliver are meant to be.

If Dinah were a regular character on the show, it might be different. When I see Allison Mack and Justin Hartley on my screen together, they sizzle. I see the potential for an amazing supercouple, not unlike comic Lois and Clark. I'm not asking anyone else to see what I see, nor have I ever questioned anyone why they ship a certain couple. But people have actually asked, "Why do you ship them, I don't get it, I don't see it. Don't you like Chloe? Oliver ends up with Dinah, and Chloe will get her heart broken again ( ... )
